The 17th Academic Conference of HKU, PolyU and SZU for Post-Graduate Students in Construction Management and Real Estate

On 22nd April 2018, eight members of the CIB Student Chapter from Hong Kong Polytechnic University attended the 17th Academic Conference for Post-Graduate Students in Construction Management and Real Estate jointly organized by The University of Hong Kong (HKU), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Shenzhen University (SZU). This program has successfully been organized in the past decade with collaboration among the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, University of Hong Kong and Shenzhen University from 2004 to 2017. This mostly forms a platform for communication among students in related research fields of construction management and real estate. Besides, the partnership among the universities has often strengthened academic exchange programs and fostered friendship among students.

After warmly welcoming everyone to the conference, the president of the CIB Student Chapter from HKU introduced the first keynote speaker Prof. K.W. Chaus to the participants. In addition to the inspiring speech from Prof. K.W. Chaus on the topic: The Scientific Approach, two other exciting speeches were presented by Dr. Wilson W.S. and Dr. Beisi Jia on Planning and Writing Your Journal Papers with the Assistance of “Mindmap” and Design as Research or Research on Design: Case study on Wuhan InCity, respectively. These speeches were followed by a five-minute break. After which Dr. Memon Shoeb Ahmed gave a presentation on Quantitative Data Analysis Using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Then a 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition with 5-minute questions and answers was held, after a lunch break, with at most five participants from each university. About 14 members participated in this competition to share on the progress of their research. Outstanding participants in this competition received awards for their remarkable presentation.
