2018 BRE Research Students Orientation

Organizer: CIBSC

Time: 16.30-18.30 p.m., 13th, Sep. 2018

Venue: Sustainable City Laboratory (ZS701), Block Z, PloyU

Purpose: To welcome the BRE new research students and promote communication

Significance: It is very honored to invite our academic professors and administrative staffs to give speeches to our BRE new research students on September 13th, 2018. The two-hour orientation provides a precious opportunity not only to improve the new research students’ understanding on our department, but also promote communication among students and teachers.

The orientation for the BRE new research students proceeded smoothly. Ir Prof. Albert P.C. CHAN, the head of BRE, gave us an opening speech to introduce the department of BRE. Our DRC of BRE - Prof. Meng NI then had a speech to new students, to get an overview of the main research area of BRE. Then every new research student introduced themselves so they can get to know each other. After that, Prof. Daniel CHAN introduced the teaching duties clearly. Prof. Eddie HUI then gave a clear description of our research collaboration. Mrs. Vivien KAO introduced some administrative affairs about new research students, so they can find them for advice about some students’ affairs. Later, Dr. Hung-Lin CHI introduced our BRE seminar, so students can improve themselves by listen to some related seminars often. Mr. Zhen-yu ZHANG gave a presentation about CIBSC. Mr. Amos DARKO & Mr. Kingsford, the two PhD candidates shared their research experience to new students. This is really a great chance for BRE new research students to learn more about our BRE, not only on research but also about research live in PolyU. Believe this orientation could give them a comprehensive and detailed outlook of their coming research lives.
